I just don't know what to say. Vanessa over at Turquoise is doing something incredible on her blog. She has decided to post a Design 911 every Friday for people who need help with a dingy piece of furniture. She offers her design advice and allows other readers to comment. And she picked my ugly guest room as her first! Click on over and see what she has suggested for me. I would have never have thought of some her suggestions! I think I might pee my pants a little I am so excited! I just wanted her to tell me what to do with a pair of chairs for the room and instead I got a whole new room designed!!!! My heart is filled with Joy. Vanessa....THANK YOU!!!!!

Be-A-utiful!
I am loving all of these colors in this ebay posting from ebay store "GreyGardens" in Laguna Beach. Holly over atDecor 8 posted about this store a couple of days ago. I actually just stumbled upon them today just browsing around thought they looked familiar. The wingback chairs are fabulous! I love the stark white and black against that bright green wall. Click here for ebay listing.
Interesting....
I can't decide whether this lamp is neat or gaudy. It's on ebay right now for $45. What i love most is the slender rattan shade. Thoughts?Click here to bid!
My Other Chair Project
I forgot about these! My mom had these in her house because she didn't know where else to put them. They were office chairs with this light blue leather. U-G-L-Y. So I stole them from her and recovered them in the linen coral print. They both site on either side of this beautiful Welsh dresser that I have my Red Aves by Royal Crown Derby china displayed. I bought the Welsh dresser at a flea market for $400. It had never seen an American home. (see china below--I love it!) As you can see my dining room has a chinese red theme. I'm still working on trying to find some other great colors that would work in here. Suggestions???

My Latest Chair Renovation
Since my earlier post about Vanessa De Vargas and her business of revamping those formal pieces of furniture, it inspired me to share with you my latest furniture renovation. I bought these chairs from Craigslist for $30. They were a natural wood color that had this heinous cushion covered in this 1975 pastel colored fabric. YUCK! So I painted them black and recovered them in this gorgeous metallic blue damask linen fabric. What do you think? I ended up selling them on ebay. I don't have them set up like the picture in my house. eeew.

Ebay Items I'm Watching
My Idol Find--Vanessa De Vargas
As I was reading through a few of my favorite daily home decor blogs I stumbled onto interior designer Vanessa De Vargas. She is also the owner of Turquoise, a furniture showroom in Venice, California. Check our her store website and look at all of the great furniture she has! I find so much of what I love to do with furniture in her. For those of you that know me, I am a sucker for great finds on Craigslist or Ebay. Whether I need another piece of furniture or not I grab the deal. I work mostly with chairs. Painting them and recovering them. A lot of what Vanessa does is take that formal furniture that we sometimes dismiss and turn it into a one of a kind piece of furniture you would only dream of finding. I only wish my mind was as talented as hers is when trying to figure out what to do with an old dingy piece of furniture, but hey, I'm working on it. Visit her over at her blogTurquoise.......RIGHT NOW! I mean it. :) Below is an article from Sunset magazine that she was featured in.

Robins Egg Anyone?
This is a must have in any bathroom thanks to our friends at Uncommon Goods. How cute is this jar full of Robins Egg Soaps! That's right... it's soap made to look like Robins Eggs. Featuring soothing chamomile and meadow sweet extracts and exfoliating "speckles" of oatmeal and wheat bran, the spirit-lifting, lusciously lathering French-milled vegetable-based soaps that come in a nest inside a quaint apothecary jar Yes...even a nest! Only $24.00!
Etsy Store: Joom
I am loving all the bird prints that Joom offers. They come in pillows, cards and prints. I am in the market for some bright colored print pillows for my black and white bedding in my guest room (I think it needs a little color) and these are definitely some of my options.

Etsy Seller- RedVelvetArt
I came across an adorable Etsy store, RedVelvetArt. She is a new mom who decided to start making her own things when she couldn't find what she wanted in stores. I "heart" the bird pillow! Check her out.
I love the beautiful colors in this pillow. I think it comes 8 x 8 in.
This journal would be such a great gift for someone. It's girly but so journalistic!
This would be a great wedding shower gift. I think it's adorable. It comes in other patterns too.
So cute!!!
Something to brighten up your purse!
Mercury Rising
I came across this new little home store in Austin called Mercury Rising. They specialize in taking vintage pieces and restoring them in to fabulous unconventional pieces of furniture. They also offer a Design Studio where you can create your own custom line of upholstered furniture. It looks like their site isn't fully operable yet...but you get the idea.

Kathy Womack---Austin, Texas
One of my favorite Texas artists is Kathy Womack. Her work is so girly! Every piece she does I feel as if she is painting an incident in my life. My two favorite collections of hers is the "Women & Wine" and the "Women of Culture" collections. She also creates plates from her art which I think are adorable. Sometimes I like to imagine she was painting an event in my life with my mom, sisters and I and I try to pick out who's who in the painting. Here are some of my favorite pieces.
Jackie Kennedy
Coco Chanel (is this one not fabulous!!!)
