Sprout Home

I love gardening. I love planters. That's why I love Sprout Home. They have great planters, plant kits, stuff for the home, gift bags, you name it. It's a great site when you need to get a gift for someone. Here are a couple of my favorites.....

How cute are these Nyokki egglings? This is a great little gift or buy some for yourself and put them in the windowsill.

Calling all Giving Hearts

(Ali's Dad & Mom)Help my friend Ali raise money to cure blood cancer! Ali's mom was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2oo5. But I am happy to report, after a successful stem cell transplant in September of 2006, she is in remission. In honor of her incredible, courageous mom, Ali is preparing to race in her honor in a half marathon here in Dallas as a member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Team in Training. To hear Ali talk about how proud she is of her mother swells MY heart. And to see her training to run this half marathon, not for herself but for someone else, is so uplifting. If anyone is willing to donate to help Ali reach her goal Click here. Help find a cure.

Designer: Mark Christofi

Clicking over at House & Garden today I stumbled upon designer Mark Christofi's quaint Boston home. How fun is that skull and crossbones chair! Fabulous! I love everything about his home. Such inspiration.

My wedding invites!

Look what I found! I got married two years ago. My invitations were hand painted (just the original and then the rest were printed from that). After the lady painted the invite, reply card, and return address envelopes, we had to proof everything to make sure the info was correct and all names were spelled right. Last weekend, my mom sent me home with a bag full of wedding stuff that she didn't want in her house anymore and the original proofs of my invites were in there! I had forgotten how pretty they were! So, I got to thinking.......I should somehow display these or frame them. I would love any ideas that anyone might have!!!

Beautiful Rain Music

I love these rain chains from Smith & Hayken that were featured in Domino Mag (or it was Metro home...can't remember). Read the description they have on the website....so peaceful.

"Used for centuries in Japan as an alternative to a rooftop downspout, this chain helps carry rain from your roof with an artistic flair. Place a container underneath to collect water for the garden."

Dallas Socialite home featured in Metropolitan Home

Architect Frank Welch helped Bill and Heidi Dillon create their modern day dream home. As I am not a fan of the modern look, I really enjoyed the lines and architecture of their home. It's weird to see these new hi-rise modern condos popping up all over Dallas. Dallas has always been a hip city, in Texas, as long as I have known, but Ifeel like were growing up.....moving up into the world of modern/contemporary design and architecture and almost everyone is embracing it. Don't worry, we still have our old Texas charm. That will never fade.

I thought today I would share with you all a little Tyler, Texas secret (that's where I grew up). Janie's pound cakes!!! A lady by the name of Janie Clapp, who everyone knows in Tyler, started her bakery 20 years ago. She used to create these fabulous cakes for every occasion. I remember when I was a little girl, I had a bowling party. Janie made me a cake that was an actual 3-D bowling ball with pins! Since the cakes were such a grueling process, she decided to stop making them and focus solely on her famous pound cakes. They are made with real fresh farm eggs straight from her ranch where she raises chickens. And guess what??? You can have one too and it will be delivered right to your front door step in this cute little yellow and white striped box....ready to eat!

Beds & Benches Gallery- Domino Mag

I love this gallery slide show that Domino Magazine just emailed me. Benches are such a great idea to put at the end of the bed, especially if you don't have a foot board.

Spruce up your office!

I can't remember how I stumbled upon the Macbeth Collection but I am glad I did! Look how fun these clipboards, file folders, paper weights, Kleenex box covers and trays are!

Bed Hunting....

So I am in the market for a new bed. Above, is a glimpse of my bedroom as it is now..well kind of. My bedding is the chocolate brown velvet quilt and the white with brown trim shams. I also have two throw pillows (shown in upper right hand corner in the brown color) on there in place of the zebra print ones in the photo. And my curtains are a chocolate brown damask print against my chocolate brown wall...you could eat my room up it has so much chocolate brown. So...since my room is sooooo BROWN, I thought a nice off white or beige color bed might work nicely. Below are some of my options I have been looking at. I also want to brighten it up with the fabulous white antler lamps from West Elm. What do you think....which one should I go with?

This one is on sale for $300, but I would
probably do the beige...this is a little too white for my dirty family!

I really really really love this one from Gallerie.
But again, it might be too white! $1795
And there's this one from gallerie... $1295

And this one I found at Club Furniture that comes in like 10 different kinds of fabric including linen. This bed reminds me of the one on the cover of the April edition of Domino (at least I think it was April). $1319
